Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding QuikDB, Nodes, Heartbeats & Earnings
1. Why would I use QuikDB? Is it like Google Drive or Dropbox?
No. QuikDB is not for storing your personal files.
Google Drive/Dropbox:
- Used by normal users.
- Stores personal photos, videos, documents.
QuikDB:
- Used by app developers.
- Stores app data (user accounts, posts, logs, etc.).
- You are not a "customer", you are an "infrastructure provider".
Your role is more like someone renting out a spare room on Airbnb:
- Airbnb: You rent out space → you earn money.
- QuikDB: You rent out computing power and internet → you earn tokens.
2. What is a "node"?
A node is just a device (like a PC or mini server) running the QuikDB software.
If you run a node, your device:
- Stays online as much as possible.
- Sends a heartbeat every 2 minutes.
- Helps handle work for apps using the network.
- Gets rewarded in tokens for being online and reliable.
Think of your node as a tiny delivery truck in a huge delivery network. The more available your truck is, the more small rewards you get.
3. What is a "heartbeat"?
A heartbeat is a small check-in message sent from your device to QuikDB every 2 minutes.
It says: "I'm online, I'm healthy, and I'm still part of the network."
Heartbeats:
- Are automatic (no button to press).
- Are very light on data (hardly use bandwidth).
- Are how the network measures your uptime and reliability.
More heartbeats over time = more proof that you're a good operator.
4. How do I earn from QuikDB?
You earn in two main ways:
1. QuikDB token points
- Every heartbeat gives you a small amount of points (future QuikDB tokens).
- These do not have a fixed cash value yet.
- Think of them as "early supporter points" that may become valuable when the token is live and tradeable.
2. Monthly bonus tokens (for top operators)
- The best devices (by uptime and heartbeats) share a small monthly pool of bonus tokens from a partner network.
- At today's rough price, the maximum bonus for one device is about 7–8 USD worth of tokens per month.
- This is a bonus on top of your QuikDB points, not instead of them.
All rewards are in tokens, not cash. Dollar values are just there so you can understand the scale.
5. How much can I realistically earn with one device?
With one device that is online almost all the time and performs well:
- You collect QuikDB points constantly from heartbeats.
- If you are within the top group of devices, you may also earn up to about 7–8 USD worth of bonus tokens per month at current prices.
If your device is often offline, unstable, or competing with many stronger devices, you may:
- Still earn some QuikDB points.
- But get little or no monthly bonus.
To make larger amounts, you would likely need:
- Several devices,
- Good uptime (24/7),
- Low electricity costs,
- And a long-term mindset.
6. Will running a node slow down or damage my PC?
For a modern machine, the impact is small.
- CPU: Very low usage most of the time.
- RAM: Similar to having a simple app open.
- Disk: Very little writing.
- Network: Just a tiny heartbeat every 2 minutes.
You can usually:
- Work, browse, stream, or even game while running a node.
- Use a desktop, laptop (preferably plugged in), or mini PC.
It should not damage your device. The main extra cost is electricity, since you are keeping the device on more often. That's why people with cheap power and always-on devices benefit more.
7. What is "token accumulation" and why does it matter?
Token accumulation means:
- Every 2 minutes your device sends a heartbeat.
- Each heartbeat adds a small amount to your token balance.
- Over days, weeks, and months, this builds up.
Why it matters:
- Early contributors can build up a decent token balance over time.
- If the QuikDB token becomes valuable in the future, early balances may be meaningful.
- Your long-term upside is tied to how early you joined, how steady your uptime is, and how long you stay in.
However:
- Nothing is guaranteed.
- You should see it as a long-term, higher-risk upside, not a short-term salary.
8. Is there a fixed conversion rate for QuikDB tokens to dollars?
No. There is currently no fixed conversion rate for QuikDB tokens to USD.
- The QuikDB token is not yet live on exchanges.
- Until it trades openly, there is no real-world price.
- All you are doing now is collecting points that may become tokens later.
The only thing we can estimate in dollars today is the partner token bonus (roughly up to 7–8 USD/month for one top device), based on that token's current market price.
The future value of your QuikDB tokens will depend on:
- How the token is launched,
- How many tokens are in circulation,
- And how much demand there is from developers, users, and investors.
9. Do I need referrals to earn?
No. Referrals are optional.
- You earn QuikDB points just by running your device.
- You may earn a small extra bonus on your monthly partner tokens if your referrals are active, but this boost is limited.
Referrals can help a little, but:
- Staying online,
- Keeping high uptime,
- And staying in the top group of nodes is far more important.
10. Is this a "get rich quick" opportunity?
No.
Running a QuikDB node is:
- A long-term, experimental way to earn tokens,
- A way to support a new kind of community-powered cloud,
- And a way to put idle hardware to use.
It is not:
- A replacement for a job,
- A guaranteed income,
- Or a promise of huge profits.
You should only run a node if:
- You're comfortable with crypto and volatility,
- You can handle the electricity cost,
- And you like the idea of supporting decentralized infrastructure while slowly stacking tokens over time.
